Family Activities
Family Activities include, economic, social, sports and recreatiom. On economic activities,we live on small family farm of four hectares. My wife and I are in paid employment and we do budgeting together for our home. To supplement our income we do some farming. Presently we rearing layers which keep us busy at the farm. This is run as small family business and every one in the family is involved except Christabel. We are trying to find her a role, for instance as a bookkeeper. So we shall train her and we are confident she will do the job. We also grow vegetables for home use and sometimes for sale. On social activities, we attend social functions according to the needs of the function. My wife and I attend some wedding functions and other parties. We organise some birth day parties for family members when they are due. The children including Christabel attend birthday parties outside our home for their friends and relatives. In times of sorrow, my wife and I grieve together and sometimes we travel long distances to our villages to mourn close relatives. Family Activities include sports and recreation and we have a small gym at our home. I personally do some work outs at least three times a week. Sometimes my wife joins me but she is not regular. The other members of the family also uses the gym at their on time. In weekends some members of the family go swimming depending on the wheather. Christabel is on some regular exercises about three times a week. We also play table tennis, mini soccer and some basket ball at home. Life is not complete without expectations. As parents we would like to groom all our children into responsible adults. Our emphasis is to pay attention to education and also to be active Christians at all times. On christian life, we share bible readings regularly with the children and we go to church together. We always tell them that there was no substitute for education, it is either they are well educated or not and when they are not their lives were going to be doomed. We are happy to see our eldest son to leave home and live on his own. Initially it was very difficult to see him leave after being part of the home for more than 20 years. In our Family Activities the biggest challenge is to make Christabel an independent person. The other children are progressing well in school and we hope they will do well and settle for the careers of their choice. They have already indicated what they want to do and we are monitoring progress towards those goals. We assist them with their academic work and we are happy with the progress they are making.
