Cerebral Palsy VideosA cerebral palsy videos library will be set up in order to meet the challenges of proving information on cerebral palsy. The videos will be used as tool to help a person with cerebral palsy lead an independent life. The videos will also provide information on cerebral palsy to care givers. The videos initially will be copy rights made by other people. Eventually, I will be making my own videos based on my experience in interacting with persons with cerebral palsy. There are many facts and myths about cerebral palsy. I would like to provide information to help people understand and appreciate cerebral palsy. It should be noted that cerebral palsy is a condition and it is not a disease. This condition is caused by lack of oxygen to the brain during pregnancy or at birth. Since the cerebral palsy is not a disease, a child with the condition can play with other children without fear of infecting them. The purpose the cerebral palsy videos will be: • To inspire others to give a hand in integrating persons with CP in daily life. • To educate. • To share knowledge and experience. As a cerebral palsy activist I will help persons with cerebral palsy and care givers with the following: • How to communicate with persons with cerebral palsy, that is how to know about their needs, problems and desires. • How to clarify the kind of life they wish to lead and how to live with others. • How to understand better what goes on in the themselves (emotions, feelings, desires etc) and how to share with others. • How to understand better the people around them. Besides videos, other forms of communication tools such as audio tapes, films and a newsletter will be produced to enhance the dissemination of information on cerebral palsy.
