Cerebral Palsy Facts

It is important to bring out cerebral palsy facts. This is because there are so many mysteries or myths about cerebral palsy before even talking about the facts because this way, we are putting the issue in the proper perspective and right direction.

I will not go into details of the medical history of cerebral palsy. However, I would like to state that it was discovered in the 1800s by Dr.William Little and Dr.Freud Sigmund.

Cerebral palsy is not a disease and it is not infectious Lack of oxygen to the brain is one of the main causes of the problem. Since it is not infectious, children with the condition can play with other children without fear of infecting them. Angry crying toddler boy

There is believe by some people that cerebral palsy goes away with age. This is not true, because this is a permanent condition and one has to lieve with it for the rest of life. However, the most important thin is management of the condition. One important aspect of management is regular exercises.

If the cerebral palsy is mild or just some traces of it in the body, a person can lead a normal life. However, If it is moderate to severe, it may bring some complications to one’s daily life.

In severe cases of cerebral palsy, there are some treatments. The treatments include use of muscle relaxants to ease the stiff muscles. Botox is also used to provide relief for muscles. A person with cerebral palsy can have a full life or normal life. The person can have a relationship or relationships and consequently marry. The person can have children. And it is imporatnat to note that the cerebral palsy cannot be passed to the offsprings.
